Aden + Anais Supports SIDS Awareness

October is SIDS (Sudden Infant Death) awareness month and education is a powerful tool.  The more you know about any subject typically the better and when it comes to children's health and wellness this is definitely true.  Even if you don't have children of your own you might know someone that can use the information and if you are involved in helping just 1 family that is truly a blessing!

While talking about an upcoming review (hopefully a giveaway too!) I found out that the wonderful people over at aden + anais that they are a leading partner of the Sleep In Safety, Grow In Style campaign.  I have heard such great things about their products and it is so fabulous to know that they are not only offering products that support a safe sleep environment for all babies but also supporting this great campaign.  Her is a little more information about the campaign:

The CJ Foundation is a national non-profit organization devoted to eliminating the tragedy of sudden unexpected infant and early childhood deaths, supporting grieving families, advancing medical research, furthering parent and professional education and advocating for the health and survival of all children.
Recognized as one of the largest, leading SIDS organizations in the country, the CJ Foundation was founded in 1994 by Joel and Susan Hollander in memory of their daughter, Carly Jenna, who died from SIDS in 1993. Since its inception, the CJ Foundation has provided millions of dollars towards SIDS research projects, organizations, support programs and public education and awareness campaigns throughout the nation, making tremendous strides in its fight to eliminate SIDS.  For more information about the Foundation, visit or find us on Facebook at

According to the CDC, SIDS is the leading cause of death in infants aged 1-12 months and infant suffocation is now the leading cause of accidental injury death in infants with the rate quadrupling between 1994 and 2004. Many deaths that were once called SIDS, because of better investigations, are now being labeled as suffocation. Based on CDC data, there are 4,600 Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) in the U.S. every year. About half are determined to be SIDS, about 600 or so are determined to be a specific, non-SIDS/non-sleep-related cause. The rest (about 1,700), are mostly sleep-related and the babies are either bed sharing or are in a crib with blankets or other soft stuff--you can find the data here:

The CJ Foundation is here to help all parents who experience a sudden, unexpected death of an infant.

There are some scary facts associated with SIDS and talking about death and children is something that a lot of people are uncomfortable about however I feel that education is a powerful tool to use for prevention.  Please take some time to educate yourself and prevent a tragedy and if you are able to support the cause every bit helps.
