TruKid Review & Giveaway

When trying to make changes in my families life towards being more healthy one of the first things I think of is not only what goes in our body (food) but what goes on our bodies.  Not just clothing but skincare products, your skin is the largest organ and I think people overlook it too often. Have you ever taken a moment to look at your daily lotion, body wash or sunscreens ingredients?  There are so many ingredients that I can't even begin to pronounce let alone know what they are. That is pretty scary in my opinion. That is one of the coolest parts of TruKid Natural and Organic Kids Products, you can see their entire ingredients list right on their website and exact descriptions of what those ingredients are and what the uses for each ingredient is.

TruKid products are BPA andPhthalate free! We make safe products that families can feel good about; our certified organic and natural ingredients are always SLS, paraben, 1-4 Dioxane and Gluten-free!

Jennifer Adams Bunker is mother of 6 and creator of TruKid, and was hesitant to use the chemical filled, unhealthy and 'yucky' smelling products on the market that were available so she set out to make something that was. Using only natural ingredients, and essential oils to make scents that children love, she created an easy system, made up of products accompanied with fun songs and poems, that kids would want to use themselves. The rest as they say, was TruKid™ history.

Jennifer, who by the way personally corresponded with me from the start; so generously sent me
Happy Face and Body Lotion

Bubbly Body Wash

Friendly Face Wash
Dancing Detangler
Helping Hand Wash

Sunny Days SPF 30+ Sunscreen

Sunny Days SPF 30+ Sunscreen Stick

Cool Conditioner and

Silly Shampoo!

The bottles are easy to handle  (my 15 month old likes to play with them in the tub!) but last quite awhile, we have been using them for over 3 months now and they are still very full.  I also love that you can lock/unlock the pumps with one hand so you don't have to take your hand off baby in the tub if you forgot to unlock the silly shampoo before you have a squirmy baby that isn't wanting to get washed up!  Although my boys don't have long hair I used the Dancing Detangler on my mid back length super thick and wavy hair and it worked fabulously!  And all of the products have a wonderful light citrus scent that lasts but isn't overwhelming. I really love the Learning System,  TruKid has created on the bottles~through symbols and colors showing kids which body part to use that particular bottle on (face/body/hair) and there is even an "Apply with a parents help" symbol!

I highly recommend all these products to everyone!

You can purchase these affordable products in single bottles or convenient 3 packs to save even more at the TruKid Online Store.

Jennifer has so generously offered one of my readers a chance to win 3 TruKid products! Thank you so much Jennifer!

Lovable Labels Review & Giveaway

When Laura Porreca's first child entered daycare she was told she had to label all his belongings, not just his backpack but this meant everything from outdoor clothing to sippy cups and indoor shoes.  Laura recognized a need in the market for personalized labels that were tough and durable and could stand the test of time and the everyday use that children put them through.  After researching and testing many different products and designs, Laura created a line of labels that include Regular and Slimline Stickers, Shoe Labels, Iron-ons and Bag Tags. Labels was born in 2003 and their most recent product line is the Book Worms line which is what I was sent! We chose the 'Fast Eddy" design shown here and the package came with 36 book labels.
We love books here at our house and although it isn't too hard to keep Little T and Big T's books separated considering their wide age difference, it is great to have the books labeled for our many trips outside the house.  I love the perfect size of the book labels are; 2"x2", large enough to see right away and not too big for using on smaller books.  The colors and designs of the book labels and the entire line of products is great.  Bold, vibrant colors and a wide selection of designs and pictures so each child can easily find something they like and still feel like their labels are different from their friends, and who doesn't LOVE seeing their own name in print!  We can't wait to try so many of the cool looking products Lovable Labels has to offer.  I know when Big T starts school again in the fall I am going to need some of the slimline labels for his school supplies.  With the endless personalization possibilities of Lovable Labels you can't go wrong!

Lovable Labels has generously offered one lucky Eco Baby Mama Drama follower a Book Worm Label Pack just like the one I was sent, Thank you Lovable Labels!

Super Stalker Sunday!

Super Stalk Sunday

I am the LUCKY Blog Mama to be featured this week on Super Stalker Sunday! I am new to blogging and this was the first blog hop I joined so this is really exciting for me! Well over 100 blogs participated last week in this blog hop that is hosted by Marni of Marni's Organized MessApril of Mama on a Green Mission, Mariah of Formula Mom,  Kortney of Kortney's Krazy Life and Emily of Naptime is My Time.

For those of you who don't know blog hopping is an easy way to gain new blogging friends and followers!  And for blog readers this is a way to find new blogs to follow!

When Marni told me I was going to be the featured blog this week I was a little nervous to be honest!  I am so new to blogging and thought I might not be ready, but after thinking more about it (and some great encouraging words from Marni!) I realized this was such a great opportunity that I couldn't pass it up!  Plus Super Stalking is so easy!

How to Super Stalk
-Follow each host at least one way. Don’t forget to let them know you did so by commenting on their blog.  I follow everyone back, I promise!
You will only have to link up on one of the host sites and your link will appear on all as we use the same linky.
-After you follow the hosts, follow as many bloggers in as many ways as you are willing!
Already follow somebody? Consider visiting and following them in another way as well!
One blog is selected via Random.org each week to be the featured blogger the following week, and that blog goes in the first spot after the hosts.
I was interviewed for the featured spot so if you are interested in my answers you have to HOP on over!

Want to add your blog and have the chance to be featured next week? Link up!

My Next Chapter

Back in June 2008 when my youngest niece (and the baby of the family at the time) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia my sister began transforming her husband and kids lifestyle to be healthier.  Every time I talked to her or visited I was exposed to information about 'organic' and all the chemicals we (all people) are exposed to.  I was very skeptical as I was ignorant to the information that was out there.  A little over a year later I became pregnant with my youngest son (Tyler) and immediately began taking better care of myself as there was so much information that was offered to me a a pregnant woman.  I do have my oldest son (Trevor) that is 12 years old, however, I was so young when I had him (I was 20 when he was born) and it was so long ago that I had no idea of the "natural parenting" world that is out there.

I started by researching what "organic" was and what it meant to me which lead to information about breastfeeding, babywearing and eventually cloth diapers (more on that later!). With each day I was home alone with a newborn the more research online I did.  There is so much information out there, and thank GOD for it because the resources in my area (Indiana) are virtually non existent.

I was reading up on and trying to find a good baby carrier when I stumbled across a website that had someone selling the carrier I wanted to try and I had to join the site to view the sale post so I registered at Diaperswappers.  For over a month I just searched daily for baby carriers and information about different carriers.

Then one day I saw a post about cloth diapered babies and there were pictures so I peeked!  They look like disposables only more colorful! I started reading about cloth diapers (talk about a lot of information!) and it just so happened within a week or so GroBaby changed over to GroVia and was unloading diaper sets on Babysteals.com so I thought it can't be that bad right?  So I bought some!  Gulp, wait what did I just pay for?  I spent how much money on how many diapers?  I prep washed them which took FOREVER (because I washed them 10 times!) and then they not only didn't fit my chunky monkey boy but he peed right through each one!  Talk about devastation and frustration!

I found a thread that you can get "adopted" by a big sister that will take you under her wing and just help with any questions you have.  I was adopted by Beth who just so happened to have a chunky thigh baby girl so how lucky was I?!  I think I probably asked Beth a million questions and emailed her even more as eery question I had resulted in another one when she answered!  After a certain amount of time Beth and I became facebook friends and were emailing each other on a regular basis.  One day I was looking through Beth's facebook pictures and realized she was SO young, I mean in her early 20's young!  I had just assumed she was my age or older and seeing how knowledgable she was I just figured she had to be older.  This made me look up to Beth so much.  She was the same age I was when I had my oldest son and had so much more information about healthy choices for her baby.  She was the mom I wished I was at her age.  I looked up to her so much and was so proud of her at the same time!  Feel free to follow Beth's blog here!

Ever try searching "Cloth Diaper"on facebook? Information overload!  This was again how I got lots of information.  By this time I had tried lots more cloth diapers and was more comfortable actually giving some advice when I saw someone post a question.  I actually read questions and smiled thinking about the time I asked the same thing and remembered how overwhelming it can all be in the beginning.  Facebook is where I started reading blogs as well, lots of my facebook page "likes" were blogs so I started following them which eventually lead to me becoming a blog contributor.  Although I liked contributing, I wanted to do more than just reviews and giveaways of cloth diapers.  I wanted to expand into all eco-friendly options for families so the Eco Baby Mama Drama seed was planted (although there was no name for my blog at the time!).

While online I ran into several pages that were so helpful to me.  Cloth diapering stores and cloth diaper makers are truly the most helpful people I have EVER e-met! I would love to sit here and list all of them for you all, however, this post is already crazy long and not nearly done so if you want any information feel free to email me or comment on this post and I can email you!  Some of my favorites are on the left sidebar listed as sponsors for upcoming reviews and giveaways!

One in particular that I want to talk about is Rosebud Diaper Boutique, Andrea and I started talking online on her store's facebook page about Nifty Nappy cloth diapers.  Pretty simple and not the first time I had talked to a diaper store owner about cloth diapers seeing as by this point I was an addict! However, Andrea and I always seemed to have something to talk about and it turned out we were talking about way more than diapers.  Andrea is a great source of information and a great friend to me that I never would have met had I not responded to her post about Nifty Nappy and I have Vilate to thank.  Who would have thought that one of my closest friends would be someone I never met!

Another very good friend I met on facebook was Janna, the creative mind behind CCBaby.  She introduced me to the world of wool and I am actually going to be dedicating an entire section on my blog to wool with her help!  I was clueless about wool and Jana not only helped me but has become a close friend and a working mom both in home and out.  Yep, she works outside the home full time and runs CCBaby at her house too!

As all this was going on I started a local (Indiana) cloth diapering babywearing group with a local lady I met through Diaperswappers so we could have play dates and mommy time locally.  Our little group has been great for information, support, and I have made more friends!  If you are interested in joining it is a private group (we want to make sure there are no weirdos!)  Let me know and I can add you to our group!

When I made the jump head first into my own blog I had NO idea what I was getting into!  Blogging is hard work!  Seriously!  I already knew that I would be emailing lots of people trying to get sponsors for reviews and giveaways, however, there is the technical side of blogging too.  I am not tech savvy.  Seriously, I can't even type very fast and you want me to post a button?  What's a button?  And you think I should turn off comment captcha?  How can I turn something off if I don't even know what it is? LOL!

Honestly, at this point I should have known, but I was still so surprised that when I asked questions to fellow blogging Mama's they had no issues answering me!  And I mean step by step writing out directions for me.  I had asked a few ladies questions and gotten the expected "Oh I just figured it out and you will too", but there were quite a few ladies that have what I consider BIG blogs that not only offered to answer any questions I had, but took the time to respond to comments I had made on their non giveaway posts.  I just felt so special that out of hundreds and I mean HUNDREDS of readers, they responded to me and it was a personal note!  If I responded or asked about how they liked, handled, and felt about a situation (not necessarily blogging) they responded again!  Julie,  Jodi, Lindsey, Robyn, all the ABE ladies and so many others, thanks so much for your help thus far and for being my blogging role models!  I never really took the time before to comment on non giveaway posts because I thought not only would the writer not read it but that she probably wouldn't even be interested in my opinion.

Now as a blogger myself I LOVE reading comments and interacting with my readers. It really makes me feel like what I write is important.  If my opinion or some bit of information can help just one reader it is really worth it to me.  I know over the last year the amount of research and reviews I have read by moms and a couple of dads has been invaluable to me and truly has helped me make decisions and purchases for my family and that really is the reason I started my own blog.

I know this is a very long post and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my little story about how I found friendship, knowledge and support into the next chapter of my life.  If I can ever be helpful to any of you please don't hesitate to contact me.

And All That Scrap Review & Giveaway

**WARNING~Poopy diaper information is in this post!  Read at your own risk!**

For those of you that don't know yet I am a cloth diapering mama and one of my side addictions that started from cloth diapering is using cloth wipes.  There are lots of wipes out there but I am very picky when it comes to wipes, I have really large hands (super long fingers!) and my little one also has some crazy full diapers (as I am sure any mom can attest to!).

When I came across And All That Scrap I was really intrigued about the cloth wipes made of corduroy.  I had never seen wipes made with corduroy before but then immediately thought to myself what a GREAT idea!  I bet those things can scoop A LOT of poop!  When I contacted Amanda she was more than happy to send me a set of wipes and have me test them. Amanda is currently a sahm to her 7 month old son and started her business to earn some extra income however she really wanted to offer her customers quality products at an affordable price.  She started collecting fabric scraps and other items from family and friends that they weren't using and putting the items to good use.  I am a HUGE fan of repurposing items so Amanda's shop And All That Scrap has a very special place in my heart.  I love the name to, it is so fitting.

The wipes arrived very quickly and were mailed in very minimal packaging (another great thing for the environment!).  They arrived on diaper laundry day so I tossed them in with the diapers and for the first time ever was anxious for Tates to poop so I could use them.  Most of the wipes I own are 8"x8" and we use anywhere from 1-4 wipes per poopy diaper, this particular diaper was VERY full. The wipes are slightly smaller than my other wipes measuring about 6.5"x6.5" however I only had to use 2 of the 3 wipes Amanda sent me and honestly the second wipe was only needed because Tates was super squirmy.  The corduroy material cleaned up his completely covered tush but didn't saturate all the way through to the flip side that is made of woven cotton (that felt like a comfy t-shirt!) allowing me to wipe his tush dry without having to grab for a separate wipe just for that task.  I am seriously impressed with these wipes!  We have been using them for a month now and I make sure when they are clean that they are at the top of our wipes stack.

BUY: You can purchase some of these fabulous wipes HERE

WIN: One lucky Eco Baby Mama Drama follower is going to get a set of 3 corduroy wipes of their own just like the ones Amanda sent me!  Thank you so much Amanda!
