Abby's Lane Review & #G!veaway #FallingIntoFluff

Abby's Lane is a unique online and most recently brick and mortar one stop shop for the natural parent.  Offering a huge selection of cloth diapers and diapering accessories that will make any fluff loving mama feel like a kid in a candy store.  The goodies don't stop there either, there are also a wide variety of baby carriers, natural mama care items, baby shoes and laundry products!

Abby's Lane isn't just any cloth diaper store, they are one that I hold very close to my heart.  I have commented on their facebook page wall and emailed them with questions several times about several thing (sales/questions) and I always get a quick response with honest answers from the staffs personal experiences. They have been more than helpful to me in my journey through cloth diapering with a heavy wetting baby boy and for that I am truly grateful.  Don't think you need any advice on cloth but want some great reasons so shop Abby's Lane?  Dollars, Abby's Lane Dollars that is!  You get Abby's Lane Dollars with every purchase you make and you can cash them in for store credit!  There are always great promotions including Mom Rocks Monday and Wingin' It On Wednesday just to name a few!  FREE shipping, ALWAYS in the USA, enough said.

I was sent the Blueberry One Sized Bamboo Fitted diaper in the elephants print for our event!  The print is simply the cutest thing ever (all the prints are super fun!) and the diaper is super soft.  I love that it is made of natural fibers, 100% cotton outer layer and Inner Lining & Soaker Pads: 70% bamboo viscose, 30% organic cotton.  The diaper has snap closure and a snap down rise and the soaker snaps in the front of the diaper to stay in place.

The soaker dries pretty quickly because it isn't sewn to itself but rather the snaps (that secure it to the diaper) allow it to be flat for drying whether hanging or in the dryer.  The shell did take quite awhile to dry the first few washes however has gotten quicker to dry with use.

On top of a one sized Blueberry pocket you can see that the fitted is slightly smaller in length and width.

Even with the rise fully unsnapped the diaper site very low on Tates belly.

The diaper is super trim, not bulky at all.

Even when he lays on his belly the diaper stays in place and is very trim.

Very nice fit around Tates chunky thighs, no red marks with this gentle elastic.

The fitted diaper is very trim through the crotch area as well, not too wide at all.

You can purchase your very own Blueberry fitted diaper in any one of the adorable prints offered at Abby's Lane or any of their other wonderful products!

Silver Liner Review and #Giveaway #FallingIntoFluff

When I first e-met Carrie the mama behind The Silver Liner I was a lucky enough to get in on her tester group for cloth wipes.  This was way back when she didn't even have a name for her store!  Carrie was so sweet with all my questions, I hadn't used cloth wipes before and was clueless about what I needed and sizing and care of my wipes.  Before Tates illness I had well over 60 cloth wipes from Carrie and they were what I grabbed for first.

I absolutely adore the information Carrie shares about herself and her business so I have to share it with you:

Slightly Crunchy Mommy Review & #G!veaway #FallingIntoFluff

Becca the work at home mom behind the Slightly Crunchy Mommy Etsy shop has some wonderful wonderful handmade goodies to help you get started with using cloth wipes and several reasons to keep you as a customer!

We were sent a wonderful starter sample kit for our event which included 25 of the regular size (6") flannel wipes and 5 of the large (8") size flannel wipes along with a 4 ounce bottle of Tiny Glutes wipe solution concentrate and an 8 ounce plastic bottle for dispensing the Tiny Glutes solution once it isn't concentrated.

Each wipe is a single layer of soft flannel with a rounded serged edge in a complimentary color thread.  As you can see from our pictures the wipes are very generously sized and come in cute prints and solid colors as well.  There are several prints and solids that Becca has stocked and she is more than happy to work with you on a custom order as well.

These wipes are super fast to dry and are great for having in the diaper bag because they really don't take up much room.  They are soft for runny noses too!

Before Becca sent me the wipes solution and concentrate I had never used a bottle to change diapers only pre-moistened wipes.  I absolutely love having Tiny Glutes Wipe Solution by the changing table for several reasons now.  First of all the solution works great, simply squirt a little bit on babies tush and wipe away the mess!  The ingredients are very safe for baby and make for a great light scent. Secondly if you are not using the solution with a diaper change I can have Tates 'shake! it shake it!' and he is occupied while I work.  Third, the solution goes a long way, the plastic reusable bottle comes with 1 shot of wipes concentrate inside so all you have to do is add water and you have a large bottle ready to go and the 4 ounce concentrate bottle is enough solution to refill your 8 ounce bottle at least 8 times depending on how much water you use.  Concentrate is also available in an 8 ounce container which is enough for 16 water changes.

Overspend This Holiday Season? How To Bail Yourself Out!

I love a sale, discount or even better a freebie.  I mean I LOVE deals, they can actually change my entire mood. Why pay full price for something if you don't have to especially in this tough economy.   During the holiday season when you are spending more money than usual; giving gifts and celebrating the season, some of us tend to overspend and blow the 'budget' we have set for ourselves and may find ourselves in a pinch.

With the economic crisis our nation is in the government is NOT going to bail you or I out so we have to save ourselves.  What is our largest asset?  Our home of course.....are you paying 'full price' or too much on your home loan?  Why?  Besides maybe a car, your home is the largest purchase you will make and you should get a great deal on it!  Save yourself some money; it is your money and you deserve to keep it.  Not sure where to start or if you are eligible?  You can get your Mortgage Refinance quote in a few minutes and it is FREE!

Thinking you are able to manage your monthly home loan payments?  That is OK, but wouldn't it be nice to pay even less?  There are several reasons to refinance your home even if you aren't in a tight spot.  By lowering your monthly payment (sometimes drastically) you are saving typically thousands of dollars over time and actually still paying the same amount of money for your house.  You could start a savings account with the money you save monthly and earn interest on your 'extra' money.  You could also choose the option to receive a cash-out refinance, which allows you to withdraw equity from your home in cash so that you can pay off other bills or expenses (pay down credit cards or car loans).

Still thinking you don't need to refinance your home huh?  Well consider this, if you refinance your home you could potentially pay off your home earlier that you expected resulting in no mortgage payment at all allowing you to retire early or take a dream vacation.  Have daughters?  The saved money could pay for a wedding or a second honeymoon for yourself and your spouse, the possibilities are endless when you have a monthly payment this large disappear!

Lock in a lower home loan rate and keep your money in your pocket in a few minutes and start planning on where to put your extra money today!

Lulu Wrap #BabyCarrier Review & G!veaway

I have mentioned before that we are a babywearing household here, all of us have worn Tates even T-Bone!  We have tried several soft structured carriers (SCC) and have liked some of them very much however I have been too scared to try wraps.  While reading up on babywearing and looking at wrap videos online one night I came across the Lulu wrap by ElleMNOP and I was so impressed with her video and how easy she made it look that I had to contact her about trying one for myself.

The Eggplant color that Elle the creative mama behind these gorgeous wraps sent me is simply breathtaking!  I LOVE the color purple and this shade simply can't be described or shown how beautiful it truly is with pictures.  The autumn/fall line of colors shown on the website are all rich vibrant colors and I would have a hard time choosing just one as my favorite, I would love to have one for each outfit actually!

Instead Softcup ~ New Year, New Green Beautiful You

So the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is starting to settle down and the new year is approaching, are you doing resolutions?  Are you going to actually try to stick to them this year?  How about this idea...make an attainable resolution that is also sustainable.  Now that sounds like my kind of resolution!  I have a challenge for you ladies out there that is super easy no matter how busy you are and won't cost you any more money than you are already spending.  Are you on the edge of your seat yet?
Here is my resolution and an easy one for you too, Green your period.  As women most of us deal with our monthly reminder that we aren't pregnant and for what seems like forever I have used the traditional solutions (pads/tampons) to handle menstruation.  Until my recent introduction to the Instead Softcup I didn't even realize how much waste I was causing using these traditional solutions.  Softcup can be worn for up to 12 hours and now with the reusable Softcup you waste even less being able to reuse the same reusable Softcup for up to one full cycle.  Most women use fewer Softcups than tampons/pads due to the long wear time, you definitely can't reuse traditional disposable solutions!

Disposable Softcup
Reusable Softcup

Whether you choose disposable or reusable Softcup you are making the best choice for the environment and your body.  Both the reusable and disposable Softcup are made entirely of hypoallergenic, non-toxic, latex-free, non-irritating materials and unlike tampons, Softcup is non-absorbent, and does not change the bacteria levels naturally present in the body.

So which Softcup sounds like a great alternative for you in the new year?  Not sure yet?  Give them both a try and see what you are most comfortable with!

Easy & Delicious #Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches #CBias

This holiday season has snuck up on me!  I have been so busy this year that sometimes it seems like I will never get caught up.  Each day when Tates goes down for his nap and I feel like I can breathe a little bit and start to get a few things done T-Bone arrives home from school and is starving for a snack.  We have brainstormed and tried to come up with healthy and tasty options but the search still continues until now!  I am so glad we found Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches!

As you can see these little sandwiches are pretty nicely sized and come in a two pack.  They are microwavable and a great after school snack that provides your kids with something that is tasty a easy t0 prepare for themselves. The sandwiches come with or without cheddar cheese and you get 8 sandwiches in each box.  My husband is off work for he next week and T-Bone is out of school so having extra food around the house is crucial and knowing how convenient they are for the busy holiday season is great.

My husband and I went on a shopping trip to Walmart to grab some supplies for the Christmas stockings and went to a specific Walmart since the Mini Chicken Sandwiches aren't available at every location.  We were lucky to find a location close to us through the easy search tool on the Tyson Goodness website.  We were able to score the sandwiches at a great price and all our other needed goodies in one quick trip.  You can see our entire trip on my Google+ Photo Album.

We added some leftover green beans and a scoop of strawberry yogurt to our sandwiches to make a nice well rounded snack for the first 'taste testing'.  I also think these would make a great quick meal option for lunch or dinner during this busy holiday season.  Sometimes as busy parents we are running around preparing for family get togethers or wrapping gifts and time gets away from us and I forget to eat, with these sandwiches a quick delicious meal is right at your freezer finger tips.  I am not the only one in the house that loves these sandwiches either (I like to add some sliced pickles!), check out what T-Bone the pickiest eater in the house thought!

I know you all want to rush right out and try some Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches and right now is the best time to buy them, there is a fabulous deal going on right now at Walmart! Buy any 2 Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches and receive a $5 Walmart gift card!! Click HERE for all of the details.  Remember to check and find the closest Walmart to you that offers the sandwiches for sale!

You can also Tweet with Tyson or Collective Bias using #TysonGoodness and #CBias hashtags! Let's chat chicken!

The Green Nursery Review & #G!veaway #FallingIntoFluff

The Green Nursery is a 'local' natural baby boutique to me as it is about a 3 hour drive. There isn't much of a cloth diaper or natural baby resources where I am from (one if the reasons I started a local group!) so I was super excited to find out that The Green Nursery was semi close and that they have such a wonderful selection of products!  I love supporting a local business and the offer a great rewards program for their loyal customers and a baby registry for mama's to be!
I was super ecstatic when I found out I would be getting the Itti Bitti Tutto one sized cloth diaper in my husband's favorite color rockmelon (orange).  I love one sized diapers and snap closure so I was immediately excited about that but I was super curious about all the soakers and no PUL cover needed.

As you can see the soakers are various lengths and have multi colored snaps. I showed this diaper to my husband and he immediately looked a bit scared (lol!) and honestly I was a bit overwhelmed when I received it. I love the super soft minky outer material that is waterproof! Although I am a fan of PUL I love this as an alternative and it allows more air flow to the tush so that means less rash. I prep washed the diaper a handful of times to get it ready for use, the original three soakers are made of super absorbent bamboo viscose (I love natural fibers!) so there is more prep work verses a microfiber insert. The three included inserts offer you several options for your babies size and heaviness of wetting. Since Tates is a heavy wetter I use all three soakers all the time and the diaper has never leaked.

There is a snap down rise, hip snaps and crossover tabs so this diaper is fully adjustable for babies of all shapes and sizes.  There is a couple of super neat features on this diaper that are little added bonuses in my opinion.  One is the built in 'Poo Fence' that surrounds the upper back and upper sides preventing any crazy blowout leakage and the other is the hip snap covers that are made from the same material as the inner stay dry lining.
Tates has chunky thighs so elastic can be an issue for us, red marks drive me crazy and I refuse to use diapers that mark up his skin.  As you can see this diaper fits beautifully!  No red marks on the thighs and the waist and backside are a great fit too!  After tons of washing and wear the diaper is still super soft and has gotten even more absorbent with each wash.  We haven't purchased more inserts yet however you can purchase them separately and swap soakers and reuse your shell (as long as it isn't wet) making this a fabulous diaper for the diaper bag.

Rather than try to explain the multiple ways to use your soakers I have gotten permission from Maria the awesome lady behind to include her wonderful how to video on using this diaper.  Please take a moment to enjoy her video and stop by her blog!  She offers great reviews (and giveaways too!), a Mailbox Monday weekly post where she answers reader submitted questions (they cover all topics not just cloth diapering), a weekly cloth diaper giveaway roundup and monthly cloth blog hop!  Thanks Maria for allowing me to share your knowledge and video with my readers!
