The Willow Store Cloth Trainer ~ Friday’s Fabulous Fluff Feature

I reviewed the Willow Store’s sprout change organic cloth diaper system before and absolutely loved it! I am super excited to be working again with Catherine; the founder behind this eco-friendly business, again to share our thoughts on the one sized organic cloth training pants.  With the cloth diaper system I was very pleased at the construction and sizing as well as the organic insert options available for the natural fiber loving moms like myself wasn’t surprised when I found out the same options are available in the training pants. For the cloth families out there that prefer microfiber there are options available in the diapers and the trainers as well.

We were sent the Willow Store Sprout Change Training Pants in black (our first black cloth product!) in the organic version.  Constructed with waterproof PUL as the outer layer to protect clothing as well as bedding and an inner lining of organic cotton so little ones feel wettness to help them know when to go!  This diaper has a thirsty hemp hidden layer so accidents are no match for this trainer!

I really love that this trainer is super flexible and can be pulled up and down easily by an independent child however offers snap closure on the sides in case there is an accident you can clean up quite easily.  Leg elastic and waist elastics are fully adjustable  in their own hidden outer area and are fully adjustable and should fit up to 50 pounds.  Yep, you read that right, this trainer is very accomodating with a generous size range and you don’t have to worry about what size your child may be when they decide to be potty ready! From 20 to 50 pounds Sprout Change has you covered.

I think I may have rushed the training a bit with Tates as I haven’t been able to really figure out when he is ready to potty and he doesn’t tell me either.  We are still very much using diapers however I have to say with all the times I tried to get him motivated to use the potty (and each time there was accidents because he really doesn’t seem ready!) this trainer held up and is super absorbent. The hemp is as absorbent as a trim diaper honestly and in a pinch I wouldn’t hesitate to use this trainer as a diaper!  With the side snapping closure there is always a nice flat belly surface and trim fit, LOVE this trainer!!

This trainer is so easily adjustable right on baby with the easy to open outside snaps being separate from the closure snaps you can place the trainer on baby and adjust without having to remove it!  This is great because you don’t have to worry about a naked baby while you adjust!

But It: You can purchase the Willow Store Sprout Change Training Pants online in a wide variety of colors as well as organic or stay dry options.

Thanks so much to Catherine and the Willow Store for being this weeks Friday’s Fabulous Fluff Feature!  Make sure you head over to see what April from Mama on a Green Mission is talking about this Fluffy Friday!

My tip is that the child has to feel that he is wet so cloth trainers is the way to go!

I don’t have any tried-and-true tips, haven’t trained mine yet!

Potty training was a bit tough for us the first time around so I don’t know that I have any great tips but I do think letting them go naked does help!

  7. Cloth trainers are the way to go. Organic is always best!

  8. I don’t have any tried and true tips as I haven’t started to potty train my son yet but I have heard that as much naked time as possible is the way to go. That and cherrios in the potty to get boys to aim for them as a game.

Put the child in undies and don’t give up. It takes a while and it takes persistence. We also did a sticker chart. He got 1 sticker for #1 and 2 for #2. Then after 20 stickers he could get a prize. (something small). But the main thing is to just stick with it. Don’t give up.

  11. be patient…each child is different!

  12. Felicia R says:

We haven’t reached the potty training stage yet but I’ve heard not to force it, that kids will do it when they are ready!

  13. Texas Momma says:

Getting them out of diapers! (And pullups are diapers no matter what the advertising says!)

  14. Jessica O says:

Naked baby outside! That helped with my son a lot, also cheerios or fruitloops in the potty to “aim” for for boys!

  15. My best potty training tip is to let your baby be naked as much as possible.

  16. Keara B. says:

I haven’t potty trained anyone yet, but I’ve always heard that they have to be ready for it to work

  17. jenny pecor says:

My tried and true method is when thier ready and you can’t force it. My oldest is 7 and has cerebral palsy we were told she would probably not potty train but shes about 50% and made the choice to try herself. And her sister started using the potty at 20 months her choice

  18. Bare bottom at home. I was hesitant to try, but it worked SO well with my daughter.

My best tip is going diaper free - lots of messes to clean up, but my 20 mo old was consistently using the potty in less than a week, and was completely potty trained by just over 2 yrs.

  20. Amanda N. says:

The best tip I’ve gotten and I’m using it…even though it means we aren’t potty training right now…is to wait until the child shows active interest in the potty on his/her own. If you push it, it’s going to take longer and be more frustrating for all involved.

  21. No pants and bring a portable potty into whichever room of the house your toddler is in.

  22. I have to say, nudity helps - I agree with the others. I think it’s that lack of a “safety net” that helps be a reminder for them.

  23. Stephanie Hungerford says:

For my brother who was stubborn about pooping in the potty my mom made him change himself and rinse out his pants in the toilet while he cried the entire time after doing this twice he pooped in the potty and never had that type of accident again.

  24. Tandra Ahrens says:

Hmmm, with my son it was running around naked at home! He was completely diaper free at 2years2months. With my daughter, we’re always encouraging her to use the toilet in stead of her diaper. This morning for the first time she peed on it (instead of just sat there they saying “done!”). =) But, she’s only 16 months, so we’re certainly not pushing it! I think that when she’s more ready we’ll have her bare butt too.

  25. Amanda Alvarado says:

Consistency! And start getting them used to a potty early! We started at around 18 months with dd on a big potty with one of the little seats on top. She never wanted to go in a little potty once we started actively training her! LOL

  26. I’ve never used a cloth trainer, but absolutely refuse to use disposable pull ups as all they are is a diaper that you can pull on and the learning toddler can definitely tell. However, I hear that is it easier to teach potty training to a cloth diapered baby/toddler then one who wears/wore disposables.

I haven’t potty trained yet, but I guess my tip would be to wait until they’re ready (because my girl is not apparently!)

  28. Persistence and sticking to it seem to work around here.

  29. Have a reward chart, it really helps! And maybe even an ultimate prize for filling the chart…a special place to go, once they have no/little accidents!

I have no experience with this yet, but I like the idea of telling the child that the potty needs something (like m&ms or pee). If you pee in the potty, you get the m&m. If not, you have to flush the m&m.

  31. Bekah Kuczenski says:

I only have a 13 month old so this momma has no tips yet lol

  32. Melinda C says:

My baby isn’t ready to potty train just yet so I have no tips! We have tried elimination communication and failed miserably though!

  33. blue racer says:

with my first I didn’t pressure her. Just tried to get her to sit on the potty everytime I went. The more I was home and around to take her potty the quicker she picked up. My son is showing some interest, and has had a few successes but most of the time he doesn’t want to hold still long enough to sit down. He does a little better if I let him be naked for a few minutes and then try going. That way he goes on his terms, not mine.

  34. Paul T / Pauline T says:

i would sit them on the potty to get them use to it and then sit there and talk to them - emscout9 at Hotmail dot com

  35. mechele johnson says:

Do not force it before they are ready!

  36. Wait until the child vocalizes they want to go potty. Until then, I talk about it, put the potty in the living room so they can sit and get comfy, etc, but it is useless to even try when they aren’t ready yet. Worked all four kids at different ages!
